Library Leaders Off to the State Library

Recently eight members of our Student Library Leaders Club visited the State Library of Victoria. During this visit the library leaders were treated to a special ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the iconic State Library building. Students saw some of the original components of the building that are no longer in use and had an exclusive tour of the archives underneath the library building. The library leaders also participated in an interactive workshop where they learnt about the art of Zine Making and all made their own zines. There is a currently a Zine exhibition at the State Library called ‘Self Made: Zine and Artist Books’ and students enjoyed browsing these collections.

The Student Library Leaders are valuable helpers in the Resource Centre at St Helena. Students assist with shelving books, creating interesting displays, assisting their peers on the circulation desk and hosting Storytime’s for preschool students.
