Top Design 2018 – Systems Engineering

SYSTEMS ENGINEERING UNITS 3-4

The school wishes to acknowledge two of our students for their outstanding work this year in Units 3-4 Systems Engineering.

Oliver Kirkpatrick and Chris Gardner have both set the bar high and had very ambitious goals this year with their productions.

Oliver produced an amazing plane with fully programmed navigation lighting system, data recording and retracting landing gear.

Chris produced a unique and innovative device that automatically changes the Learner ‘P’ Plates green to red at a push of a button. For a fully licensed driver, he has used switch glass to blank out the displayed plates.

Oliver and Chris were both short listed for the 2018 Top Designs –  Season of Excellence, in the Systems Engineering category and submitted their work to the VCAA judging panel, where Chris was successful in being one of seven students to have his work on display at Top Designs at Melbourne Museum during March-July 2018.

Top Designs received over 1200 applications this year, with just fewer than 240 shortlisted. From these, 7 Systems Engineering works have been selected for exhibition.
