St Helena Secondary College is fortunate to have the services of a chaplain, Paul Worsnop.

Our Chaplain offers pastoral care and support to students, and is involved in running a range of wellbeing programs including Seasons (Grief and Loss Program), Confident Kids (social skills), Rock and Water ( conflict management) as well as a number of voluntary lunchtime programs such as a weekly games program, and a discussion group for Christian students called ‘Mustard’.

Access to the Chaplain is voluntary.  The Chaplain is part of the St Helena Wellbeing Team and liaise with the Leading Teacher in charge of Student Wellbeing and the College Assistant Principal in charge of Wellbeing.  Students may see the Chaplain before school, at recess, or lunchtime to arrange an appointment or may ask their Year Level Manager or Student Wellbeing Manager to arrange an appointment for them.

The Chaplain is fully funded by the college community. The funds are mostly raised by our parent volunteer Student Wellbeing Support (SWS) Committee, which meets about eight times a year. The fund raising efforts include sale of Entertainment books, various BBQ’s and Trivia Nights. Local churches also donate to the SWS committee.

In 2015 the College has also arranged with Access Ministries (ABN 59 004 240 779 and registered with the Australian Charities and Non-for-profits) to collect donations for the St Helena Chaplaincy program directly into a tax deductible recipient fund.   That is, your donation will be tax-deductible if it is deposited directly into the St Helena Chaplaincy program bank account.
